The shoulder is one of the most mobile joints in the body. This is a great feature to have, however with such great mobility it be predisposed to instability, which means there are many types of injuries that can occur.
You might have heard of rotator cuff injuries, shoulder bursitis and shoulder impingement. These are some of the most common injuries that occur at the shoulder joint.
Here at Trilogy Physiotherapy, our physiotherapists can help diagnose an injury in your shoulder and give you a solution to your issue.
At Trilogy, we don't only look at the shoulder joint, as this might not be the root cause of your problem. It may be stemming from your neck, mid back, hips or from even the way you walk!
We will run you through a full assessment and assess your whole body, to not only get you moving and reduce the risks of re-injury.
Be prepared for hands-on treatment and exercise based therapy to help you get your shoulder moving, functioning and performing to the best of it’s ability.
Common Causes of Shoulder Pain
- Shoulder Bursitis: Bursitis occurs when the bursa, a small fluid-filled sac that is in your shoulder, swells due to excessive overuse or direct trauma.
- Shoulder Impingement: An impingement occurs when the shoulder blade puts pressure on other areas of the shoulder when you raise your arm. This pressure causes a rubbing sensation that results in pain.
- Rotator Cuff Injuries: Rotator Cuffs can be injured in a number of ways, including overuse, tissue degeneration, trauma or as a result of re-occuring bursitis and/or impingements.
