Vestibular Physiotherapy addresses problems with the vestibular system.
The vestibular systems can cause many symptoms that include vertigo, dizziness, room spinning, nausea, vomiting, brain fog and balance changes.
Our Physiotherapist, Vinod, is trained to do specific vestibular assessments to determine the underlying cause of your symptoms. He can then take you through the proper treatment to get you feeling better and give you tips on how to prevent reoccurrence in the future.
What exactly is the Vestibular system?
The vestibular system is a sensory system that is responsible for telling your brain where your body is in space. This means it's responsible for spatial awareness and balance. This system also helps with coordination.
The vestibular system consists of the labyrinth and cochlea which are located inside the ear.
Within the inner ear sits the semi-circular canals which form part of the balance system. These canals provide information about head movement through space.
Disruptions to these structures cause the signals to get confused resulting in dizziness, vertigo, or other symptoms listed above.
